That means there is 8 air bags in the suspension system. you probably have 4 per axle. They assist and support the shocks by smoothing out the ride. There are sensors that sense the height of the body of your coach in relation to the axles and keep it at a uniform pre-set height. They make your ride smoother. They may also level your coach while camping if you have air leveling. The only maintenance I know of is maintaining the air drier in the compressed air system that supplies air to the system.
