- RayChezExplorerThe air dryer has to be changed out. Follow your maintenance book and change the filters as instructed. Failure to change the air dryer filter could cause brake failure.
Nothing to lubricate on the air brakes. There are fluids and compressor oils that get into the brake system, but that is where the air dryer and the draining of the reservoirs comes into the picture of eliminating any fluids found in the air system. That blast given by the air dryer will get rid of any fluids, but it is also recommended to pull on the lanyard cables to drain the rest if there is any.
Now the slack adjusters do have to be lubricated, but that is all done when the rest of the chassis fittings are lubed. - wolfe10ExplorerNo, they are lubed by engine oil. But, as already posted, the air dryer will need servicing every couple of years. Failure to do so can lead to very expensive repairs (if dryer fails and desiccant gets in the suspension and air brake components.

The air dryer has a filter that normally would be replaced every "x" number of miles on a commercial truck, but the amount of use your coach gets, the filter will last a life time. The coach chassis has to be lubricated, including the braking components, but that is something the technician will do as part of your routine preventive maintenance.
(My coach is a 1993 and I replaced my MIdland air drier some 10 years ago just a preventive measure. When I took it apart, it was clean and didn't need to be replaced. I installed a new Bendix dryer. Since these dryers are used by garbage trucks that stop every 50 feet, they get a LOT of use. Even those trucks only replace the filter once a year.)
