- Blaster_ManExplorerAs long as it tests good, Transynd is good for life. The OP might want to go to www.irv2.com there is a section on the Allison there. Also, a regular poster is the guy who developed Transynd.
- lj2654Explorer$42 to $46 a gallon of transyd and $80 for the two filters, I spent about $300 I believe or a little more.
- Mike_HohnsteinExplorerThrottle position switch adjustment/condition is every thing to that transmission.
- prstlkExplorerI'm a big believer in oil analysis. Blackstone is who I use. Take a sample send it in (they provide the container). They email and snail mail a comprehensive report of your results and excepted parameters. Allison says 100k or 1 year. My last analysis shows I'm still good, 8 years old 48k miles.
Jw - JimM68ExplorerWe paid $527 this past July, for 5 gallons of transynd @ $81 each and $120 labor to flush the trans.
When I questioned this, I was told the filters were screens, they checked the primary, it was clean, so they didn't touch the secondary. Just flushed and changed the fluid.
Some searching after the fact shows that transynd is about $42 a gallon, and there are in fact 2 pleated paper 4" filter, which can be bought on the internet for $65.
At this point, I am assuming the shop that did my annual maintenance for me pretty much did an "air job" whereby they park the coach in the back corner of the lot for a day, don't touch it, and roll it around front once I pay their inflated bill.
I'm thinking some time within the next couple months, I will replace the filters myself, and send a fluid sample off to be analyzed. - WILDEBILL308Explorer II

Transmission has 62K and is sluggish when shifting gears at times. Fluid level is fine. What can I expect to pay for a service replacing the current syn-tran fluid, filter, gasket etc.
I would have them do a diagnostic and see if you have other problems or codes showing.
Bill - accsysExplorerLast year when ours was done it was five gallons of Transynd @ 46.08/gal; one filter at 94.04 + tax and one hour of labor at 105/hr for a total of 437.43 We have changed ours every three years regardless of the mileage.
