I have an 06 Allison Trans 1000 in my coach I cant find my Allison manual! I would like to know when to change the trans fluid it came with transend ? I think the external filter changes every 25000 miles!

  • I use oil analysis at filter changes. Last weeks test at 60k miles and 60+ months came back normal with no contaminates. I'm good for 3 more years.

    Oil analysis cost $10.
  • Allison recommends using oil analysis as the primary method of when to change the fluid. If you don't do the analysis, then the default is the listed schedule. In other words, as long as your test come back good, don't waste your money. I send mine into Blackstone Labs once a year. I just changed my filters for the first time at 36 months. Filters are cheap,

I guess this could be right if you never overheated the transmission fluid and you completely ignored the 48 month time limit for a scheduled fluid change as recommended by Allison.
At the very least, the OP should be on his third fluid change since his 2006 came with Transynd from the factory.

Ron, my advice is directly from Allison...they do recommend the fluid be spec'd periodically but the change is 300,000 miles or life whichever comes first....Dennis

    Transynd Fluid Change Interval

Using your link, you missed where it said 48 months for general service and 36 months for severe service. They say whatever comes FIRST, the mileage or the time limit, in months or hours of service.

  • There are manuals available that give STANDARD intervals(50,000 miles) but the actual change interval depends on how your transmission has been used. If it has been overheated in excess of 250 degrees, the fluid would need to be changed much sooner than if the fluid never exceeded 200 degrees. If you are in doubt as to whether the fluid was ever overheated, it is best to just change the fluid with Transynd and be safe.
  • If the tranny came from the factory with the Transend, I believe you will find the change cycle is 50000 miles. Hopefully others will confirm.
