Am I the only one?

Am I the only one that has purchased those evil Chinese tires? Just put a set of Samson tires on my coach. In the 10 miles back from the dealer, I can tell you that they ride better than the Goodyears ever did. Just hoping their RV tires are as good as their heavy equipment tires are. So far, I am happy - will have a better idea when we get back from our Tennessee trip next week.

  • Seems that the almost legendary problems that were constantly discussed on this Forum over the past years regarding "China Bomb Tires" have largely disappeared!

    :C

The importers and manufacturers finally rolled up there sleeves and insisted on actully increasing QC! What a novel concept!

X2, I like my Hankook tires but, if I find a good deal on something similar I'll change brands.
    Hankook is my first choice.

I know they made great tires for Heavy Equipment - hope that will carry over to the RV tires. My Camping World checked with their supplier who said they have sold a ton of them and never had one come back. Sounds promising!

New tires with new rubber ALWAYS will ride better

This coach has never had what I would call a smooth ride and the old tires did make it worse. However, I think it is better than when we first bought it - BUT - like you said, time will tell.
  • The Cooper's I put on almost 3 years ago are Chinese. No problem whatsoever.
  • When I replaced my 10 yo Toyos with the new Hankooks I had the same experience but, yes, new will always ride better than the old. So far I've only heard good things about the Samson tires and that's a good thing.
  • New tires with new rubber ALWAYS will ride better than any old tires where the rubber has hardened, which is the reason tires are replaced due to age. Also the deeper tread will make for a smoother ride than hardened rubber tires with worn tread.
As long as you are happy and saved a few bucks, that is fine but to compare your new tires to ANY old tires can't be done after 10 miles. Wait to see if they last as long as your previous tires and then get back to us.
