I don't buy Chinese products because I don't think I get my best Value there. Cost is not the prime mover for me, Value is. I don't lke the way the Chinese do business, they have state sponsored industrial espionage.
This country, however, has long ago sacrificed its Republic at the foot of the Capitalist God. Therefore, it is in the highest traditions of Capitalism to spend your money as you see fit. So thats what I do.

I agree with both you and Pat! The U.S owes China more than 5 Trillion Dollars! That's scary to me and most of the population following the Baby Boomers don't care! The $5 Trillion dollars owed to China is proof of that! Another decade of buying mostly Chinese products will really harm the U.S. economy due to the debt we will owe China. And, I'm a Disabled Combat Veteran!
Actually, I think buying local and the phenomena of the Chinese economy are related but not for the reason you're stating.
The Chinese economic policy has included buying huge amounts of American dollars for many years to prop up the american economy and grow Chinese manufacturing and other business interests, when coupled with the Chinese keeping their dollar low we get the problems we're facing.
Don't get me wrong, buying local won't hurt and is ALWAYS a good practice, it just won't solve these really big economic issues by itself.
