After reading great reviews, I decided to pick up some LED's off Amazon. I have never used LED's before, so assumed they would just plug into my 1141 sockets and be done. Nope. I got a package of 10, tried all 10 in two different sockets, and none of them work. This is really weird, they all go in like they should, although a bit tighter than the 1141's. I know the sockets and 1141's are good. Amazon has a good return policy, so I'm not worried about that. I just wonder if I am doing anything wrong, although I have no idea what it could be. You may have the polarity of the sockets reversed. LEDs are polarity sensitive

Drop the light fixture and reverse the wiring from the coach to the fixture. Leave the fixture hanging down while experimenting. Don't worry about wire color . LED's are polarity sensitive.No harn no foul , in trying

Well, that did it! It's going to be a pain to switch all of the fixtures. There isn't a whole lot of excess wire above them and I have to splice them because the ends are soldered on the fixtures. Oh well, it will nice little project. Thanks for the help guys, I was ready to box them back up and ship them back.

I got panels instead that come with adapters to plug into the socket, and you can easily reverse polarity on them.

looks like ebay has those panel lights for sale. they come with 3 different connections for different types of sockets. $13.99 each.

someone mentioned heat issues. I can't imagine they'd put out more heat than the incandescent lights they're replacing and if the lens can hold up to that...

Before you rip out all of the fixtures, you may want to diagnose the one at hand. Hopefully you have a VOM meter so as to check voltage/polarity on the coach side. Hopefully all is well at the 12v source side of things.
Then you'll want to carefully look at the fixture. Try to see which wire on the fixture is attached to the center prong of the bulbs socket. That is to be the positive. After that, you need to discover if the coach wiring and the fixture are polarity correct. If so then the LED bulb is bassackwards and thats ok just as long as you know whats going on there.

Need to diagnose at the light fixture first. A voltage/polarity reading with a VOM is important before anything else.

I did notice that they are not perfectly centered in their socket. But like posted earlier, the problem was reverse polarity.

If all these light fixtures are on the same circuit, are you sure they aren't simply reverse-wired in the DC panel?

Maybe its my imagination, maybe not, but I think that LED light is sitting a bit higher in the socket, and the positive end is not making contact. There might be a slight difference in the location of the little protruding studs ( for lack of a better word) which prevent the bulbs from sitting all the way down in the socket.

To keep them from dropping, I would try a couple small blobs of Goop on the back, tape them up until the Goop dries, and that should hold. Worth a try. I use that stuff on many things. Probably should try it on my hair.

3M makes some stuff called Adhesion Promoter. I used to use it re-applying side mouldings on vehicles before I retired from doing automotive body work. It comes in small packages with a sponge applicator. It REALLY makes two way tape stick. I may still have some in my tool box.
