Anode rod

How often do you check your anode rod in your suburban
water heater?

  • At least once a year....but more frequently if using hard water.

Don't have to replace until 75% of material has deteriorated
  • Depends on how hard the water is in your area. Harder the water, the faster the anode will deteriorate.

    Hard water map.

  • well, I empty my water tank every time I come home so how many times do I check mine, too many times to count.
  • At least twice a year for opening and closing of camping season, more often if we go south to TX or AZ during the winter which requires de-winterizing /re-winterizing each trip. Only had to replace anode once in 6 years of heavy use.
