Any issues on the Winnebago Vista line?

We just got back from the Maryland RV show....we're nearly ready to upgrade from a travel trailer to a Class A RV. DW won't let me get a diesel pusher...given the upcharge I see her point, but figure we'll make up the difference in mileage savings over the life of the coach.

Anyway, very happy with the Winnebago Vista 36Y. Floor plan is just what we want and it looks very well built. I hadn't put in a lot of research in Winnebago coaches as we haven't really looked at the Class A units until this year. Anything we need to know? Any online documentation about how their floors and walls are constructed? Their website is somewhat lacking for construction am

  • The wife and I have had one Vista 26P and the Itasca version of the Vista, the Sunstar 35F and with the exception of the 26P being too small and riding a little too rough, we have had no serious issues with either.
  • was a real good review of the 36Y in Motorhome Magazine a few months ago. It was based on actual usage (test drive for weekend type). It brought up some things I had not thought about.. and helped me make my mind up that I still want one.
  • Hard to go wrong with a Winnebago....they've been around a long time and have been making motorhomes for the duration. As opposed to many of the ones on the market today that started off making trailers and delved into the motorhome market.
  • Own a Vista 35b, love it would buy the exact model again! Few issues but nothing that other makes don't share when new. The only serious issue was the black water flush in forward bathroom didn't work, but overall, we love it.
  • Yep, we also just saw one. I really liked it, especially the kitchen but Wife says NOT... She didn't like the wardrobe/drawer layout or the 2 doors in the hallway. You'd have to be careful when opening them.

We currently own an Itasca by Winnebago and she's been nothing but great.

Winnie is one of the better brands and seems to have consistent quality, but they have their issues just like any other MH. The biggest one I have seen on here is issues with the fiberglass roofs peeling off going down the road. Unless they changed the design, the roof is simply lapped into a channel with no mechanical fasters. It's basically caulk that holds it in. I understand that regular maintenance keeps disaster from occurring but it's happened more than a few times based on some recent posts here. They are suspect to the same slide squeaks and fails that any other company that uses the Schwintek design. The 36Y has smaller slides so this should be less of an issue. I love the 36Y floor plan but bear in mind it's a first year design, sure to change for some improvements in the next year or so. Winnie makes a nice MH and a good brand that has withstood the market when many others failed. Decent quality and good support. Not sure what the weights or wheelbases are but those would affect handling - for better or worse.

We owned a 2011 Vista 30W, and in many ways, it was better than a 40DP we owned.
