well since some folks here say that they use one of the back flushing devices and refill the black tank 2-3 times to do so, I think it is no worse than that.

True, I'm just saying if you dump according to commonly accepted practices, it's the slowest. - BumpyroadExplorer

Sewer Solution
This is another product.
I did a video for the sewer solution and can definitely recommend it if you don't like odor or germs.
The sewer solution is about the cleanest solution possible. It is self cleaning and 100% odor free. You only need to dump the black tank because the gray can stay open at all other times.
My only problem with it is that you waste a lot of water and it is the slowest solution possible. - holstein13ExplorerI've used one for the past three years now, but have recently switched to the old stinky slinky.
As mentioned above, you need to disassemble it annually and clean out the hairs or other debris. If you don't do that, it will eventually get blocked and may break. That's what happened to mine. After using it for three years, it finally got something stuck in it and broke the impeller.
I hooked up the stinky slinky and was delighted to see how fast I could dump without the macerator.
Macerator Pros:
Only have to hook up one end, the other stays connected
Can pump uphill or over long distances with the proper hoses
The hose is a smaller diameter and more convenient
The end often has a shut off valve that really eliminates odors
Macerator Cons:
It will break down after a certain time. Usually at the worst possible time.
Yearly maintenance can delay the time it takes to break down.
It is much slower than traditional dumping.
It's noisy.
Costs more plus needs installation. - fredbonExplorer
- EffyExplorer III had a portable for the old 29.1 and it was great to empty at home without driving through the grass to get to the cleanout. Our new 29.2 has one built in and it is SOOOO much easier and cleaner. Nothing to attach, just pull the lever and hit the switch. I think there is a benefit to gravity dumping simply due to physics, but I installed a tank flush and that makes sure the tank is clean. I don't think I would own a MH anymore without a macerator.
- Big_KatunaExplorer III made my own with a Jabsco macerator which is the pump and motor almost everyone uses. I only use it when I am dumping at home as the impeller does wear down, loses vanes and needs replacing periodically.
As mentioned, it is wise to take it apart and inspect it annually as it is no fun when it quits pumping and you have to deal with a gallon or so of raw sewage between the valve and the pump.
Also will jam if a kid puts a candy wrapper in it (Been there) or a female type puts a you-know-what in the tank, Been there too. - BumpyroadExplorer

Same here as BSB (above). It is convenient to use when you don't want to get out the slinky hose. The hose is already attached so all you have to do is pop on the connector to the tank drain.
I've only had to open ours once to clean out as someone (a friend's son), dropped a piece of gum in the system and it got caught on the blade. Once removed, worked like a charm again.

x3 but I've never opened mine up. much cleaner/easier to use and store a garden hose than a stinky slinky.
