Anyone else have this problem when fueling???

I haven't had a real problem yet. If I fill up in the truck lane I'll tell them an over amount to make sure I get enough then go back in and they correct the amount on my card. They don't keep my card. Flying Jay goes to $150. then I reswipe and go again.

x2 or whatever Has worked for us also and you get an invoice for your cost at the end of the month along with the discounts. Maybe not the cheapest in town but to us it sure is the easiest. 10 minutes and we are on our way out. Works for us. Try it you just may like it. Larry

The last time I went to a truck fuel station, it kept shutting off at $50. I just swiped it 5 times but it was a pain. I asked the guy at the station and he said it was my card. I called the card company and they said it was the gas station. I think the guy at the station does not know what he is talking about.

Just walk inside and request $400.00 worth, give them the card and get a receipt. My CC has a 20K limit but it also prevents a huge spill should you not watch (guess they figure you'll watch if you walk inside) I remember when you had attendants but had to go in to pay anyway. You can also fill up on the truck island but have to go in and tell them is Commercal road tax free.

You can only call from your home phone, otherwise they will not lift the restriction. Our cell phones are employer owned, so they will not acknowledge a phone call from them as legit. I could register the number, but since it does not belong to me, I do not have true control over it.

I would think all you have to do is call the credit card company, explain what happened and they should lift the restriction. If they don't then IMHO you need a new credit card company. They are not trying to make their card difficult to use, but are simply concerned about possible fraudulent activity.

Nah I leave to pump with my card but what difference would it make? When he runs it and gives it back he has the number now.

Once that happens, your card may be flagged by the card company, and you can no longer use that card on the rest of your trip. I had that happen once, and it really made things difficult for the rest of the trip.

The real solution would be for the gas stations to use security cameras that can capture your license plate. Then up the level of criminality for stealing fuel so the criminal can be extradited across state lines. Right now, states will not extradite for anything less than $30K. Lastly, they need to get the credit card company out of the picture. The dirty little trick is, the station is out the money, but they are not the legal victim. The credit card company is the legal victim, but because they are not out any money, they do not bother to press charges. They don't reimburse the station, so they do not suffer loss. They will advertise that they are out to protect you from credit card fraud, but the dirty little secret is, they hardly care. Their only motivation is to make sure the problem doesn't get big enough that people stop accepting credit cards.

So what's the big deal? Hang up the nozzle, re-swipe the card and start again!

Limits are set by the bank authorizing how much it might be responsible for. Individual stations have individual polices. Grin and bear it!

Lately, when filling up locally, I see the "limit" has jumped from $75 to $100. That means I usually have to start over once.
