- There we have it. No guessing, multi measuring, or other guesswork. This is what I have to work with.

- Today I cut a couple of the last drawer slides, and routed them to shape to get ready to install drawers.
The first thing I did was to just stack the drawers in the "hole" where they will be installed, without any slides.
Why? That gives me the exact amount of space I have to work with for spacing between the drawer fronts.
- These are the rest of my drawers. The red arrow is the other 12" deep one, and the blue arrow points to the 4", 5", and 8" drawers all glued up and just waiting to be put into the frame.
I'll need to cut the plywood slides for that, hopefully starting tomorrow, so I can get this assembly in place.
- I figured as deep as these drawers are, I should use a couple of extra clamps to hold the back of the drawer together.

- Finally was able to test assemble my large 12" deep drawers today.
It's great when things just fit like a glove, like they should when test fitting, and then final assembly is a breeze.
- I assembled 4 of the 6 drawers. Two of the 5" high, and two of the 8" high.
Measured across the corners after assembly, and they were right on the money.
All of the joints were tight enough that no clamps were needed, except for holding the back of the drawer together.
Everything else was a nice snug fit, and with the dovetails up front, there was no way for anything to move after assembly.
By the way - does this count as a miracle? - SOOOOOOOOOOO - I proceeded to cut a new set of 6 drawer fronts for the ones I messed up, and then cut the new dovetails - In The Correct Place - and then cut the groove for the drawer bottom.
I then test fit the new pieces - and they FIT! Wahoo.
I used a small paint brush to spread the Titebond 3 in the grooves and dado's, and dovetails, and proceeded to assemble the new set.
- Time to cut a new set of drawer fronts for these 6 drawers. The one redeeming factor in this situation is ..... (drum roll) ... I can still use these incorrect ones for the next set on the other half of the drawers under this counter.
The second set will be more narrow, so all I'll have to do is to shorten them a few inches, recut the dovetails, and we'll be good to go.
Therefore, it's not a total loss.
The front of the drawer sides were about 1/2" more narrow than the back half. Still don't know how I made them wrong, but I did. Duh!
Sorry for the out of focus pic. The outside edge at the rear of the drawer is about 20"
The outside edge of the front is about 19.5"
As you can see, I cut the dovetail right where I had it marked!
- Measure once- Check.
Measure twice - Check.
Measure thrice - Check.
Cut once - Check.
Test fit assembly - Che.... @#$%^&*(*&^%$ - NO FIT! ARGGGGGG.
Well then.....
In this pic, you can see where the dovetail is cut in the plywood.
You can also see where the dovetail bit is - and in fact should have been cutting the plywood!!!!!! UGH!
