Anyone remember the "Dual Power Adapter"? need instructions

About 10 years ago, I installed a device on my 30 amp motorhome that allows me to connect 2 shore cords (the standard 30 amp cord) and a 2nd 20 amp cord to the pedestal where I easily run both a/c's with power to spare. I bought it from a company (no longer around) Power Solutions, and it has some instructions on how to connect it up. I am looking for those instructions for a friend that wants to make one of these for his 30 amp motorhome. I did find some instructions on the web, but it shows the wiring being connected to the camper breaker box, and I know that was not how this particular device was connected. Mine is connected in the shore cord area in the transfer switch. This is not to be confused with the 'cheater cord'. This was a simple junction box switch that broke out the circuit where the 20 amp circuit on the generator powers the first a/c and allow you to plug that into the pedestal when on shore power. I think the man who sold it to me is Bill Nemecek or something like that? Anyone remember or have a copy of those instructions? He made some specific to Winnebago/Itasca. It works PERFECT and is the best modification we have ever had. I suppose I could take mine apart and figure out how it was installed. But sure would like to find some directions from the original purchased device.
  • I still have the original instructions. PM me if you want me to email them to you.

I designed and built my own.. So perhaps I can help Two sets of directions.

My RV is a 50 amp Rig with NO Intelletec Energery Management System. So it was easy

I disconnected the wire from the breaker for the REAR A/C and also the assoicated white and bare wires.. THey went to a junction box I added nearby...

I ran new 12 ga Romex out to .. in your case the PSRV box in my case an outlet box.

I ran new 12 ga from the junction box. connected to the original romex. out to the same area. Added a plug. the remote plug/outlet (20 amp type by the way) are in an compartment protected. A 20 amp breaker is included in the PSRV in the "inlet" half

On the PSRV the flexible line is the outlet. and the fixed is an Inlet. I did it the other way around. which way does not matter.

IF you have a 30 amp RV with a generator.. When the Generator is running one cirucit on the Genny powers JUST the rear A/C.. So the generator connection box becomes your "Break out" point instead of the main circuit breaker panel as on mine.

Does this help??? I may have the orignal schematic on another machine but not sure.
  • I use the same set up. It didn't hurt that the guy who sold them was really nice and patient with my questions about the installation.
I'll look and see whether I kept the instructions. Stay tuned.
