Sounds like you are staring the journey to buying that dreamland retirement lifestyle and the problem is there are huge amounts of analysis to get to the point where you know enough to start asking questions. I suggest you take a couple day trip to a place like PPL in Houston where there are hundreds of units, of every style. It is a used market. The salesmen give you access to the units at your pace without pestering. You will develop a basic understanding of size layout and cost to narrow your focus. Then detailed questioning becomes more relevant.
We started a search for our new motor home, after a four month trip from Alaska in a class c. You would be served well to rent or borrow a unit to understand the issues that physically define some of your parameters. We found coming down from Alaska that we enjoyed National forests yet campground length limited access in many places to under 30 feet. If your lifestyle is more toward commercial cgs then larger sizes are ready fits.
The fun thing about this forum is that every body has an opinion and you will hear them all.
Have you considered what model toad you will have. Almost as much analysis occurs with toads as with the basic motor home
