Aqua Hot Hot Water Tanks

Just purchased a new 2017 Motorhome with a Aqua Hot heating system. Question, how do you drain the tank on the heater? With the old tanks, if you leave water in them, they will turn putrid and you could pull the drain plug to empty tank. What do you do on the aqua hots if you do not want to pink it up?

    Not sure I understand what you are trying to Drain - but I would guess it's the water that is to be heated? If so what I've always done is blow it out with air - if that is not enough for you then add the Pink stuff.

    Just give the Tech at Agua Hot a call ;

    Aqua-Hot Technical service department
    Phone: 800-685-4298
    Email: servicedept@aquahot.com

    They will help you out,

    Best of luck and let us know how you do.

    They have a few different models and setup arrangements. Can you post a photo of the system along with the model number?
  • There is no water tank ! just a boiler tank with boiler fluid in it ( antifreeze ) with a water "coil" of pipe inside to transfer heat to the water. You can't drain it or blow it out totally and must pump pink rv water system anti freeze to protect it from freezing ! That's not what you asked but I've never had "stale water" problems .. just use it or run water through it. You could run bleach through the lines but be sure to not let it set its not good for the coils or so I've been told.
    To properly winterize you must use pink . If any water remains in the coils and breaks it. You risk a $ 8000. ? Repair if you don't.

    read page 12.

    The cost for a new 600 plus is near $16000 list. Just help a friend replace an older one. Watch the bleach, copper does not like it.
  • The MAIN tank(about 8 gallons) is Propylene Glycol which is Antifreeze. This is what goes thru the Furnace radiators in the RV and what the HOT water coils are immersed in. The Hot Water coils are what you need to be worried about. What you do to winterize is drain the system and then pump RV antifreeze thru the water pump until Pink antifreeze comes out the nearest Hot water spigot, either a faucet or the low Point drain. Then you are done. The Coils are so small Aqua Hot states that blowing them out cannot remove all the moisture in the tubes and they could then freeze. The Coils are about the ONLY non serviceable part of the Aquahot. If they freeze and break you have 2 choices. 1. Buy a new unit(expensive). 2. Send your old unit back for rebuild.(not quite as expensive but close). Doug

    PS, you will know when they freeze and burst. The Overflow reservoir will overflow when you have the fresh water system pressurized up.
