OLDER Aqua hots used a poisonous antifreeze. The newer ( 10 years or so) use PROpylene Glycol--non poisonous. At no time was chassis engine antifreeze used in the operation of any Aqua Hot boiler system. The way to tell WHICH antifreeze to use is on the radiator cap and the shape of the radiator cap. Sorry, forgot which shape is which. I believe nif you have an older antifreeze, you can flush the unit and then install Propylene/Glycol. I have never asked Aquahot if they reccomend that, You need to call them and verify that Propylene glycol is OK with older systems. BTW, the CORRECT 50/50 mix of antifreeze is CRITICAL for correct heat transfer in a Aquahot system. Too much 100% antifreeze (over the 50% ) will cause LOW heat output on both furnace and Hot water production. Doug
