- DaHoseExplorerThere are great travel safes that bolt under your seat and allow you to carry a pistol and loaded magazine at the ready for quick access.

Jose - pauldubExplorerTransport is severely restricted in your own state:
A person may transport a handgun if they can demonstrate that the handgun is being carried, worn or transported:
To or from a place of legal purchase or sale, or repair shop;
Between a person’s bona fide residences, or between his residence and place of business, if the business is operated and substantially owned by that person;
While engaged in, or traveling to and from a target shoot, formal or informal target practice, sport shooting event, hunting, trapping, or dog obedience training class or show; or
By a bona fide gun collector who is moving any part or all of his gun collection from place to place for public or private exhibition.
During transportation to and from the above places the handgun must be unloaded and carried in an enclosed case or enclosed holster. An additional penalty is provided for any person convicted of unlawfully wearing, carrying or transporting a handgun, if his deliberate purpose was to injure or kill another person. - old_guyExplorerget a utah CWP, good in about 33 states, or something like that.
- kknowltonExplorer IIDefinitely check on the laws in the states where you plan to travel. From things I've read recently, you could be a world of hurt in NJ if anyone knows it's there, whether legally registered or whether you have a concealed carry permit, or not.
- JaxomExplorerFirst thing I would do would be to join the NRA. They will help keep you informed and legal.
Get your CPL ( Concealed Pistol License ). That will help. - Tom_BarbExplorerGuns come with responsibilities be safe with it and never give reason for any LEO to search your trailer, require a legal warrant to search.
Never display it with out reason. keep it out of sight, and out of reach of children.
Never take a life over material things only when you or your family's lives are in danger. - i5truckerExplorerNot only do the laws vary from state to state, but also from city to city. New York, Chicago, Detroit and other cities have law very strict laws that the states of those cities do not have.
- WyoTravelerExplorerNRA and some of the other gun people have good info about gun laws state by state. If you do not have a gun I would check out some of the info before purchasing a gun. It is impossible to give a quick answer to that question. Many RVers have weapons in their RV and are legal. Some have weapons illegally and unaware because the law is very vague and varies state by state. JMHO as retired LEO.
