Arizona State parks

HI All,

New to this forum, and new to partime/fultime Rving. This will be our second trip south, last yr we did 1 month in Florida, This year want to do Arizona/ Texas for 2 months. I have heard that many people boondock in state parks in Arizona?
How is the best way to go about doing that and Where would be the best location to be in November to be able to do day trips etc... or should we plan on a few different locations to get the best of Arizona and Texas?

  • Normally State Parks have developed camping and charge but you can get an annual pass: State Park Pass.

As mentioned there is also State Trust land that you can camp on with a permit: Arizona State Land Recreational Permit.

Then there is BLM land where camping is permitted in some areas, some are free some are not: BLM camping

Normally neither State land nor BLM land is identified so you have to figure it out yourself.

    14 day max
  • You can boon dock in the Tonto National forest near Globe Arizona.
    Hundreds and hundreds of spots.

Also you can boondock for free near Quartzite, AZ.
Basically by pulling out into the desert and setting up camp. It is slightly more difficult than I state BUT NOT MUCH must be over a thousand acres of boondock on BLM land.

Note that although you will be boondocking the odds of being alone are slim
