- jubymaeExplorerWell tank you all for your input and comments. What a good group to get information so specific to RV life. Thanks again.
- jbbrickExplorerI've carried a bike on mine for years, never a problem. If a ladder is rated for over 200 lbs what can possibly be wrong with hanging a 35# bike on it? Just bungee well so it doesn't bounce. I made my own bracket with a piece of unistrut and two J hangers but I think the ones sold at CW or other places would work just fine.
- Joe_HammExplorerI have used one for years to carry 2 bikes. Get one that attaches to the rails and not just hang on the step. See Surco 901. Use budgie cords to keep wheels from swinging.

Joe Hamm - ValkyriebushExplorer III carry a little giant ladder and a bike on my RV ladder. I have the little giant ladder on a strong aluminum holder attached to the RV ladder and the bike on another black wire type holder weaved thru the two ladders to support the bike. Only negative is my bike gets scratch up a bit. I have NEVER used the RV ladder for any thing but this. I took the lawn chairs off because it looked to much like the Beverly Hills, Hillbillies. lol No issues.
- Dick_BExplorerFor previous posts try searching this Forum for `bike rack' then search the results for `ladder' and read on.
- HappyKayakersExplorer IIIIt can be done but you need to secure the bike(s) with extra bungee or tie down straps. If you just use the straps on the bike rack, you'll run into trouble.
- wtravlr1ExplorerI travled for a long time with a ladde bike rack til I hit the right series of rolling bumps on the road, tore the rung out of the ladder.

I want to use my RV ladder to attach my bicycle to. Ladder specs say it holds up to 250 lbs. good idea or bad?
In my experience bad. Not because of the weight issue. It's how they attach to the ladder. The bike hangs down on the ladder.
I bought 4 different RV 'ladder' bike racks and no matter how you cut it, because ladder bike racks hang the bike parallel with the ladder, the front wheel flops around, hits the side of the MH, yada yada yada. And forget about covering a bike when its hanging on the ladder.
I finally found the "bumper mount" is the best way to go. And it doubles as a spare tire mount if you so desire. I use the space where the tire would go to carry my lawn chairs.
Carries 2 bikes. Designed for the RV square bumper.
I no longer take the bike with and that rack now carries countless of other items!
You can find them at any Camping Store and they are inexpensive. - kalynzooExplorerI see people doing it all the time. Personally I think it is a bad idea. I would at least add an extra brace since I really don't trust the rivets or screws used on the ladder. When we transported 5 bikes I had a 2 inch receiver added to the front of the MH and used a bike rack there.
