awning questions help please

Don't know if this is helpful or not since I don't know what Coachman does or does not do in terms of customer service. Mine is built by Winnebago and when mine (fabric) needed replacement, I called Winn C/S, gave them my serial number and they shipped to me, the next day, all new awnings of the same fabric and color. I didn't need to measure anything in that they keep track of all the specs of each unit they build based on the vehicle serial number. I did, as a check, compare prices of similar awning material/size and found my mfr to be very competitive - to say nothing of the ease of doing business with them. FWIW

I am only replacing the fabric. The idea was to replace the 16 footer and four smaller one ,various sizes. I foolishly thought I wanted them all to match ,same material and design. I have emailed several ,including Shade pro and have yet to get an answer back.I assume this is their busy time of year and luckily it doesn't stop me from camping ,just thought it was something I wanted done and could do myself.

Are you just trying to replace the fabric or everything including the roller?

If it's just the fabric, online places will custom cut you new fabric. We did it for a slide out a few years back and gave them the exact dimensions. It seemed to be good quality and was still in good conditions 3yrs later when we sold the RV.

Watch out for fleabay replacement awning material. I bought a $130 replacement (16') and it does almost nothing to stop heat and light from coming through. It's really quite worthless. When I gave it a bad review they blacklisted me.
That's OK, I dont want to ever buy anything from them again anyway.

I've never had an RV place refuse to sell me something because was going to install it...smile ear to ear and say that they would install if I got in trouble, yes...which I have!

We purchased one in Shipshewana IN two years ago. It had some coloring mistakes, but otherwise was perfect. It was very economical.

A couple years ago I looked into getting an add on awning for my front slide. I went to my local dealer parts store and they searched for me, just about everywhere. It took them about a week (and they were not slacking), to finally call me back and inform me they just don't make them that short, anywhere.

I was disappointed of course. But went to Plan B. We got new stand alone Quick Shade Umbrella style canopies, 2 of them.

So, in all your search, don't be surprised if you can't find one that short. Check with your local dealership. They will find any part, you can buy it from them, and still install it yourself. They don't bite!
