Awnings

We are near to ordering a new 20' awning for our MH, anyone have a review on awningsmart.com? there prices are great especially for 15 oz. fabric. The only problem is they don't sell matching fabric for the the 2 windows in the front area.

  • From the add:
Brand New overstock 2 piece Vinyl replacement fabric for RV patio awnings, measuring 10'-21' arm to arm. Very important: Please make sure to provide your awning center of arm to center of arm measurement in the notes to seller, so that we can resize the fabric accordingly for your awning. Heavy Duty 13 ounce fabric. Color available: Sierra Denim with White weatherguard. 1/4" poly cord sewn into the top of the fabric and 3/16" cords are sewn into the bottom and the valance. These cords will fit Carefree and A&E awnings. If you have another brand please advise us at checkout to ensure proper size cords.

They have several closeouts starting at $89 10ft to 21 ft

  • I used rvawningsmart to replace my awning fabric. Great price. Great product. Package arrived in no time! I had it shipped directly to my mechanic for installation.
  • Hi FC

I have a mail box in Maine as I am across the border on a regular basis.

I often get things shipped to my PO Box to take advantage of free delivery offered in the US. I declare it when returning to Canada and pay the HST. There is no duty on this type of item.

In the case of the awning I had it delivered to my home. The cost to get it delivered to my door was only about twenty bucks more than getting it shipped to my Maine PO Box. The extra cost was insignificant so hey, why not?

I always check what shipping to my home will cost and if it is not much more than shipping to Houlton Maine then direct to my house it is.

Now some items, the cost of shipping into Canada is beyond expensive. My base plate for instance $379.00 US and free shipping to Houlton Maine, Pay HST when entering Canada.

To have that item shipped to my home was an extra $140.00 so no question that item went to my mail box.

  • I am looking at doing the same for the awning and two slide outs. Any problems with Customs or did you have a friend in Maine??
  • If you mean rvawningsmart.com then I can comment.

I ordered from them last spring. The awning fabric arrived quickly and was exactly what I ordered, no surprises. You can't beat the price!!

The installation was not hard. The only caution I would throw out there is the installation is better with three guys as opposed to two. One on the roof and two on the ground.

The fabric replacement instructions are on the awning hardware manufacturers website.

The awning fabric was heavier than the original and I am very happy with it. Looks fantastic, clean easily and rolls up properly.

My only complaint was that it smelled of new vinyl for the first few uses until it got "aired out". The first two times we deployed it you could smell the "newness" from 20 feet away. Not a bad smell by any means, but a smell just the same.

Would I buy this product again? - yes. Would I recommend to a friend? - yes.

    Hope this helps.
