Back up camera acting up

While on my last rip the BU camera quit..Turned out the input cable fell out of the back, plugged it back in and problem solved !!!NOT SO QUICK!!Now if I plug in to camera 1 it will show me the toad going down the road, but turns off when I go into reverse.on camera 2 it will work when I go to reverse but will not show me the toad when driving....Any ideas ?????????
  • There are two cam ports. You need to see if there is another wire or that you hooked it up correctly. It should not be entirely complicated wiring, but merely a coax style. I would THINK 4 wires (2 coax) (norm).
  • T-Bone, good for you on the fix! Any more troubles I suggest that you give Tim Lazroe a e-mail at RVCams.net he has a wealth of knowledge that he doesn't mind sharing and he's located in the South.
  • I got the situation rectified today..apparently was a loose connection....
  • Mine worked fine until the rough I 35 jarred the cable loose . And now it works as described above..I do not have a driver door so it is very difficult to get under dash..I may have to remove the seat to accomplish this..However on a different note I am talking to the local dealer about trading for a 2016 Winnebago Aspect..The unit I have now is HUGE and as I age more difficult to work on and get into...
  • Mine was like fcooper described. It was supposed to work that way, but whoever connected it originally did it backwards. I just used the other port and it works.
  • You need to find the wiring diagram for your monitor.

On the inexpensive 2 port monitors like you get from amazon or ebay, there will be a power feed from the reverse light circuit that switches one of the two ports to be active when the vehicle is in reverse. If yours is wired that way, you can accomplish your goal by simply cutting that wire feed from the reverse light circuit.

  • Check that you connected it correctly. On mine, There are two camera ports, of which one operates ONLY in reverse. The other works OK all the time. I knocked mine loose accidently, That is how I found out about it.
  • I don't know that mine has a "menu"" it is a 2009 model..
  • You might have to go through the "menu" set up again on your monitor to make sure all cameras are set properly.
