Back up camera not working

My back up camera is not working. Seams that the tv screen only shows a faint picture after about 20 minutes of being turned on. Has anyone had this problem. How do I test to determine if it is the screen or the camera.
  • A call to RVCAMS.COM could get you some advice as well. They are very helpful and if you have a hardware issue they can help you with a replacement camera/monitor or system using your existing wiring.
  • We had that problem with our Alfa. The monitor was an older style tube type, and you could tell the tubes were going bad. We replaced the whole system with an LED monitor and new camera. System that old is hard to fix and you just start chasing the problem from one old component to the next

Likely the connection - turn on and off, might get a good connection after a few tries - otherwise you need to check the wiring to find the soft/faulty connection. After a unit has been sitting for a while this often happens - seems that Video needs a really good connection.

    Best of Luck,
  • Try to change settings on the TV and see if there is any text that comes up. If so, is the text bright?
  • A couple of things to check. Are you getting power to the camera? Can you hook up another video source to the monitor to ensure that it's the camera and not the monitor? Can you see the camera lens to make sure it's clear? I had a spider web on the gasser that allowed a ghost image to come through.
