I recommend that you consider how you will use the system before you purchase the components. I like having two camera's on the back (or one adjustable one) as I need to see close up to check on the toad and for backing into a site, and also need to see further behind the coach to see what's coming up behind me. There are mounts that have two camera's in them. I used two separate cameras. Here's a picture:

    two rear camera's

Of course, two cameras mean two 65 ft cables. (you can probably adapt or cut/splice the existing cable for one camera)

Since my windshield wipers don't clear enough to see the mirrors clearly during a heavy rain, I also have side camera's with their own full time monitors. I just completed installing the driver side monitor/camera and the cost was $80 with components from ebay.

    Nice set up Fred! ...

One camera is all I need for my use. I've been looking at a Voyager system with a Night-Vue camera and microphone. Wish Sony was still making, and or had an upgraded system that's presently installed in the Eagle. 17 years service life is pretty darn good IMO.

I've purchased several components from this vendor and they seem to be good quality. I have a monitor and camera in use for several years. These systems will have screw together connectors

    camera/monitor vendor

I've also had good luck with cheaper components from ebay. Most of them will have plug together connectors. As long as the connector is inside the vehicle and you secure it from vibrating loose, they will work well.

Don't under-estimate the length of cable you need. To go down the back cap, along the frame rail, and up into the cab the 65 foot cable is about right.

Thanks for the quick response Fred. The present system in the Eagle is a (now discontinued, per RVCams) 7" Sony b&w SSM-721AMR monitor and camera. On my last trip, the back up system worked, more or less half the time.

After contacting RVCams. They recommended that I install another ground to the unit to see if it would cure the problem. However since the problem is intermittent, there's no telling if it cured the problem or not.

The current system is roughly 17 years old, so I think a new system is in order. I didn't like driving the Eagle without the help of the back up camera system. I was fortunate / happy that the system decided to get back online for the last 30 plus minutes of my destination.
