Has anyone done a background check,BC,on potential out-of-town buyers of a motor home? Since we will be accepting only wire transfer or certified check, this may be overkill.There seems to be lots of online BC folks out there wanting to take our money to do this, so scammers are a concern.

Certified checks can be forged also. If that is what you do, call the bank (that the check is drawn on) when the check is in your hands and BEFORE you turn over the MH and make sure the check is good.

Direct wire transfer is the only method that cannot be reversed. A certified bank check can be stopped, even if it was good when you accepted it.With a direct wire transfer, once the money is in your account, it is there to stay.

No question. Just go to your bank and get wiring instructions. Have funds wired from his bank to yours.Only exception I would make is if his bank has a branch where you are, and you and he go to the bank together and get a certified check (you watch the bank cut the check).And, any buyer who doesn't understand this... well just have them read this thread.
