Bad Diamond Shield

The Diamond Shield vinyl covering on the front of my '04 Dutch Star is crazing and cracking and looks like ****. I had it changed once about 8 yrs. ago under warranty but Diamond Shield says they can't do anything about it now. I can't afford $2,000 to replace it again. Has anyone removed the vinyl and tried to restore the original finish?
I would appreciate any input or advice.
  • Do s search on Youtube for Diamond Shield removal. There's a company in FL that sells the removal liquid. It takes some doing but doesn't look all that bad if you follow his instructions. Normally after getting all the glue off all you need to do is buff and wax the front end and it should look as good as new.
Look for a Youtube video put together by Wayne from Ugly Shield. He has a 3 or 4 part video on the process. Very good video. Good Luck! I should mention I have to do ours too.

By the way There Phone No. 239-240-0793 -- Ugly Shield
  • Once you take it off, leave it off. I suspect you can repaint the front end cheaper.

Plus 1. Also if you can get to Ft. Meyers they will do the job for you for $850, which includes a full detailing of your RV. I have an appointment with them on January 10 on my Dutch Star. I will report back with pictures after work has been done.

That would be great. Hope all goes well. They really appear to know what they're doing. Good Luck.
  • That Ugly Shield stuff is a buck fifty per gallon and they only want $850 to do it for you? Sounds like it'd be worth the trip to the West Coast....Dennis
  • Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I think I will give Ugly Shield a call as it would be doable for me. I plan to make a trip to Miss. next summer so I could hop on down to Fla.
    Thanks again
