Yes, when I bought my rig from the previous owner, it had a Roadmaster on it, but the RV shop put connectors on it that are compatible with the Blue Ox baseplate. 8 years, two toads, no problems.

There are adapters for every combination out there!
I bought a Used Roadmaster Stowmaster hitch in 1998 that is still safe and gets used . I also obtained a second one that had fewer trips that I am using ,only because it Looks better!
I also have an Excalibar that remains at home unused which came with Our current Rig !
I just don't enjoy squatting in a puddle to hook that one up!

Anyway You have lots of choices!

Roy, I can't remember what Roadmaster recommends for a reliable lifetime for a tow bar, but I learned that my original Stowmaster model for the Sidekick I bought very well used is not as nice and easy to use as my new one. These things do wear out and I think my old one is there, be careful buying on line. Sometimes a pig in a poke is a good deal money wise and sometimes you get screwed.

As far as mixing parts, Roadmaster has the biggest inventory of adapters and it is perfectly safe to mix it up.

I've had several different types of tow bars and all are easily serviced. My current Demco tow bar takes less than an hour to take apart, inspect, grease, and reassemble for use. If you find a used tow bar, either take it apart yourself for a complete inspection, or send it to someone to inspect it for you. There are very few moving parts to a tow bar and damaged and worn parts are easy to spot.

If you are ever at a RALLY when Roadmaster are there put your name on there list and they will check it out and lube where needed. All free good service.

I have the blue ox total package - baseplate and tow bar- on my Honda Fit. Friends have the same setup on their 2013 CRV. I am a fulltimer, ease of use and reliability are essential - blue ox products have been superb. I am on my 2nd tow bar - wore the first one out - so do be very careful if you are buying used. The baseplate is barely noticeable, I remove the pegs on the toad and wedge in a rubber stopper - blends right in to the grill design - much nicer than lots of extra hardware.

Have a Ready Brute tow bar with Blue Ox adapters connected to a Blue Ox baseplate.

Since you will also need to purchase a breaking system, get ReadyBrute integrated towbar and braking system. Lots of satisfied user on RVnet. ReadyBrake is a very simple design that just works. It is fully proportional and is the only system that operates "closed loop", meaning the braking is always based on need, rather than being preset.

Thanks everyone... I have been checking the different companies for a base plate. The only company so far that I can find that makes a base plate for a 2012 CRV is Blue Ox. Honda changed the body style of the CRV in 2012, so maybe some of the other companies haven't caught up yet...
