Bathroom Door

Hello

I am a newbie to RV's! Been tent and pop-up camping all my life. Just purchased a used 2010 four winns 24SA, on a 2008 sprinter chassis. I have not taken delivery from my dealer yet because there is an issue with the sliding pocket door on the bathroom entrance. This door is made up of apx 8-10, 6" wide mirrored wooden slats that are hinged together and ride on a top and bottom curved track that slides closed into a pocket. It's a very poor design and does not open and close properly AT ALL! So far 2 attempts have been made by my dealer to fix this issue and it is not resolved. The dealer has informed me that they are replacing the door and its entire components. The RV has very low mileage on it 15K!. I am afraid that this is a big issue with this design? Does anyone have experience and advice on this issue for me? I will not take delivery until it is resolved!

    I have not seen your door hardware but almost all track doors with rollers work the same way. The bottom rollers are adjusted up into the door and the top rollers are spring loaded. The door is fit into the frame and the bottom rollers
    are adjusted down to raise the door and engage both top and bottom tracks. The door has to be adjusted just enough that the top rollers cant come out of the track but still need to have some spring compression left, otherwise the door will bind. If it is impossible to get the proper adjustment it means the floor or ceiling is not parallel enough with the other and the track may need to be shimmed.

    If you don't want the mirror, maybe you could just leave the door permanently closed and use a curtain? I can't imagine the slatted door is much more of a noise barrier.

    Our 2014 24sa has 3 panels on a similar track setup.works OK but lower wheel on first panel comes off the rail quite easily.perhaps you could upgrade to newer panels?
    Nice little 3 piece bathroom on this unit.we use it like at home and don't use reststops or campground facilities at all.

    Our 2010 Four Winns Chateau 25c had the same style door and really never worked properly. It seemed the more level the coach was, the better it worked. It's asking a lot of those little rollers to stay on track considering they have to turn in a bend on thin tracks. Hopefully they can come up with something better for you. Like you say, without the extra weight of mirrors, it may work better. Ours was mirrored also.

    Thank you all for your response! Knowing someone had the same door that operated for many years makes me feel a little better!

    I requested that the replacement door not be mirrored since I think it adds to much weight. Let's see what they actually do?

    If they replace it, will be the same type of door. Questions about engineering choices are best resolved before purchase. In this case, someone managed to live with that choice for seven or eight years.

    Does your sales contract give you an out? If not, re-engineering that door design will most likely be something for you to take care of, rather than the manufacturer or dealer.
