Battery acid dripping on floor pan

Hello everyone, I have a pile of white dried battery acid building up on the floor under a + cable. I thought maybe someone might have a suggestion as to what to do here. I had the RV shop look at this and they told me that this was normal. I'm having a hard time believing that. I asked the shop if the cables needed cleaned and they told me they looked OK to them. Another hard time believing. OK, the cable that comes from the + post on the battery loops down and back up to a fuse, (I believe) on the wall and then from there it goes inside the RV frame. I am plug in to shore power and I have the inverter turned off but the manual says that it will still charge the batteries. It's a xantrex 2000 watt. I don't know a whole lot about those things but I'm hoping that someone on here might be able to help me out with what's going on here. When I ever figure out to post a picture on here, I will do that. It sure would help. Thanks....

  • Hope this works.....Yea, kinda large but it worked.
  • Which Xantrex? And yes most of the Xantrex installed in diesel rigs are of the Inverter/charger. As long as shore / generator power is on. It will act as a 3-stage charger along with an equalization mode.
Also you will need to see if a remote is attached, possible RC7. This allows functionally to the Xantrex. You are going to have to get models numbers of both including the remote. You can due a web search for the model numbers.
As for the fuse, it is required, think what could happen if there was a short in the line. As for cleaning, go to an automotive store, locate a spray can of cleaner and protector. CRC makes the produce. And yes batteries post, cables and etc. need to be kept clean.
