Several months ago I was having work done at an RV repair place.(would never return to them) They said my solenoid for the battery disconnect was bad and removed it. They temporarily connected two wires ( or so they said). I would like to replace the solenoid. I know it was under my bed but have no idea where. Are all the solenoids the same, if I want to order one? I have a 2001 Four Winds RV. Is it a simple fix?
All battery disconnect switches I ever seen do not require or have a solenoid in their circuit. If your BD circuit requires a solenoid and it was removed, your BD won't engage or disengage without it being operative.
A solenoid is simply an electrically operated switch that engages or disengages another electrical switch,as as your engine starter.
Check and see if you can see where they connected the wires (if they in fact did).
One bit of advice I always give in these types of situations is to always ask for the part (s) that are supposedly replaced back.
