Battery Disconnect Solenoid

All battery disconnect switches I ever seen do not require or have a solenoid in their circuit. If your BD circuit requires a solenoid and it was removed, your BD won't engage or disengage without it being operative.

A solenoid is simply an electrically operated switch that engages or disengages another electrical switch,as as your engine starter.

Check and see if you can see where they connected the wires (if they in fact did).

One bit of advice I always give in these types of situations is to always ask for the part (s) that are supposedly replaced back.

What model Four Winds do you have? You probably have the same solenoid as me. Mine is located under the bed, on the curb side, behind the power distribution panel and converter. I have to remove a cover to see it.

I would have to go out to the MH and look to tell you any more about the solenoid. I know it is a 12v latching solenoid.

Depending on what they did when they removed the solenoid, it shouldn't be a difficult fix.

New one on me.but I doubt his RV has a continuous duty solenoid in his BD circuit.

Do some searching on the Intellitec BIRD. You might have that system. It uses latching relays. They are only powered long enough to turn them open or closed.

If you see photos of the Intellitec hardware, you'll have an idea of what to look for.

For one thing, if you have a battery cutoff rocker switch that is labeled Use (or On) and Store, that's an Intellitec system.

As stated before - this is new to me to have a solenoid in a BD circuit. It seems to be an overkill and just another component to go bad.

What's wrong with just a simple switch or knife blade switch to break the circuit?

Looks similar to what I remember mine looking like, but I haven't looked at mine for several months.
