- Mile_HighExplorerJust went to Battery Minders on mine 2 months ago. I went with a 128CEC1 8 amp for the 6 AGM coach batteries, and a 2012 for the 2 wet chassis batteries.
They temp compensate and desulfate automatically. Went up last week to give the coach a run when it was 32 degrees outside and they were doing their thing. Coach batteries 13.83V and Chassis 14.03V. - wa8yxmExplorer IIIMultiple suggestions depending on need?
Is yours a coach where shore power ONLY maintains the house and you need to maintain the chassis battery when camping? Trick-L-Start
Or are you talking about winter storage?
Recently my converter (house device) crapped. Well it was Sunday noon before I figured it out and you know the odds of getting a replacement on Sunday (Slim and non and Slim is out of town) Well on Monday I drove past the factory that made the converter and on Tuesday I returned to the factory and bought a replacement but I needed battery power overnight so I bought a brand new}
Deltran Battery Tender DELUX.. This is a Big thing.. It has some added featurs
1-2 amp Automatic battery Tender.. Just like the little ones
20 Amp Battery Boost.. This runs the battery up to 14.1 volts, then shuts down I TDOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGE.. Good for recharging a dead battery took like 234-24 hours to bring my house up to full power again.
70 amp JUMP START Boost.. I think you can see the obvious advantages of this.
WI-FI Remote app on my phone allows me to both monitor it and change modes.
It cost about 100 bucks at Auto Zone but it is what I recommend due to teh added modes. - Battery Minder is a brand name. I recommend the battery Minder Plus model with 1.3 amps. Model 12117.

Shop around. - TinstarExplorerBatteryMinder has worked flawlessly for me for the past 6 or 7 years.
- georgelesleyExplorerI have used both battery tender and battery minder for many years. Bought from Northern Tool. I put them on our two cars that stay behind at home on long trips. I also use a 1.25 amp multi battery type and four stage charger for agm batteries, I think is called Genius 3500 or something like that. Excellent results keeping both coach batteries charged at once. Probably more than you neeed for a chassis battery.
I once used a cheap $20 Walmart type and ruined two batteries before I learned you get what you pay for. Lesson: buy cheap trickle charger, buy lots of batteries. Buy a good trickle charger, buy few batteries. Your choice. - Jim2007ExplorerTwoX.ScottD
- 10forty2ExplorerAnother vote for Battery Tender brand. I use them at work to keep generators and response vehicles charged, on my Harley for when I'm not able to ride to keep it charged, as well as on the RV for exactly what you want to do...keep the chassis battery topped off and conditioned while it sits plugged in to shore power. It does an excellent job!
- AvaExploreri have used the Battery Tender that works well and just bought a small C-TEK 8 stage charger. the extra stages are desulfication, recondition, and several levels of charging. this unit is supposed to keep batteries in as good condition as possible.
- ThomBolesExplorerI recently installed an amp-l-start which is slightly beefier than the amp-l-start. I installed the unit inside next to the breaker panel and ran the wires to the batteries from there. I think it took me about an hour to install.
