Bay door locks

All right..I've searched to high heaven for an answer to my problem. Maybe someone on here can offer some advice. I have a Monaco Executive 45PBQ with auto bay door locks. The bay doors can be locked either by pressing the key fob remote or pressing 555 on the combo by the door. Pressing the other button on the remote unlocks them. You can also do so by entering the correct code in the code reader. My issue is this...

Last week the driver's side bay doors decided they wouldn't cooperate with the passenger's side. When I depress the button on the key fob, the passenger side doors open like they should, but the driver's side ignore the command. Using the key pad and I get the same result. I've checked all the pin switches on all of the doors and they appear to be working correctly. I've checked the breakers, the GFCIs and all of the fuses, front run bay, rear run bay and closet. All fuses checked ok.

Anyone have any ideas? The keys open the bay doors and lock them as they should. That said, I'd like to get the remote locks working again if possible. This only affects the driver side of the coach. TIA...

However, it does not show the 'switch' on the engine hatch. That switch has been broken for years and appears to be one of the plunger style switches. I just wired that switch together and it's worked fine until now.

Here is a thought, from the above statement it sounds like the "switch's" are a "daisy" chained grounding system if one is not making contact the entire system shows open ground.

One idea: Wire the switch's together on the non working locks one at a time to see if one of them is bad. If need be wire all the switches together, that should eliminate the switches as a problem.

Second Idea: Run long jumper wires from one of the locks on the working side to the non working side to see what happens. Jump each lock to see if one actually sends power to the rest. This will verify if any locks are working and identify the first one in line that supplies power to the rest, if that is how they are wired.

Third Idea: Use a contact cleaner like CAIG Deoxit on all the lock system contacts, switches, boards, connections, everything, corrosion is our enemy.

Just a few blind thoughts :h
  • You can find those diagrams in the Yahoo Monacoers file name
    "2007 Monaco Signature Wiring Diagrams.pdf" page 90 & 175
  • I'm gonna try to locate things tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Using the diagrams, I'm thinking a bad relay and/or an "issue" in the passenger side armrest which is where tons of wire hide out...I'll post on Monday what I find. Thanks everyone...Dennis
  • Did you check the flux capacitor? That's the limit of my electrical knowledge! Or on a real note, most every weird electrical problem I've ever successfully fixed without having to take to somebody who actually knew what they were doing, was a grounding issue. Wiggle the ground wires!
  • Got up this morning determined to fix this thing. Downloaded the prints of the wiring diagrams and printed them out. Pulled out the electrical tool box and put new batteries in the meters. Ready to take on the world. Pressed the code into the key pad and BOOM! all locks worked! Tried the key fob and bingo! same result. All locks opened and locked as they were supposed to.I think it was a miracle-it is Sunday after all. Anyway, thanks to everyone who responded. Pretty difficult to trouble shoot something that isn't broken. Scratching my head on this one....Dennis
