Bedroom slide fixed

I had a problem w/ my bedroom slide Motor would not stop when it was full extended. My repair guy replaced the ballast in the light and that fixed it. He said the bad ballast was the cause and it was interfering w/ the controller located in the nearby closet. Has any one had this problem before?

  • When FL were located near the RV refers, they would raise hell with the controls.
  • A bad blast would take our TV picture away. Turn on the light and TV WENT black. Turn light off and TV was back on. LED light replacement was just slightly more than a new balast. Now all flourscentlights are gone.
  • Not on a slide controller. BUT, when you have this type problem and you have FL lights, you always leave the lights OFF when testing. Then turn the (all) the FL lights on and see if the problem happens. It is a simple test. The light OFF will not cause the problem. Then you just have to isolate which light it is by turning off the lights until the problem goes away. Doug
  • Yes. As strange as it may sound, I've heard of a couple of incidents of this occurring with regard to the slide controller. In fact, I heard of them right here on the forum.

Never heard of such a thing.. HOWEVER.. Possible it is.. I do know the inverters in the Florescent fixtures. (They call it a 12 volt ballast but it is in fact an inverter) do cause Radio Frequency Interference and if its powerful enough it CAN mess up other electronic devices.

I had one that used to bother my radios... It does not any more.. But then it IS not any more. I did the LED upgrade on that fixture and sent the ballast to electronic.. somewhere else.
