Bedroom slide

I have a 2003 National Tradewinds, the bedroom slide is spasmodic. It doesn't want to open but closes Ok.
  • We do need more details. Do you hear the motor running when it tries to open? Any grinding sounds? Do you toggle the switch and nothing happens?

He THINKS he found the answer. Since I worked and still work on National products(have for 22 years) I wanted a specific answer to what it did. The usual complaint on a National Bedroom slide was the gear assbly would rachet or slip when extending but operate OK when retracting. Motor does NOT fix this problem. Replacing the Gear box assbly does. Doug
  • OP if you have a topper cover on your slide, it MAY, be binding. Have someone put the slide out while you watch from the outside. I just had that happen to me.

I'm afraid I now know the answer. My RV repairman says it's probably the motor failing.

Then why did you ask this forum? Doug
  • I'm afraid I now know the answer. My RV repairman says it's probably the motor failing.
  • Explain fully. What exactly does it do or not do. Are you just stating a fact and want no help?:h Doug
  • I'd start by checking electrical connections to the motor, but it may just be an electrical motor failing.
