Been lookin at C's and found this

2006 3180 Coachman Epic, the asking price is below NADA Average Retail. It is a very low milage rig and in the ad looks pretty good.

I've never heard of an Epic and supposedly only 37K were made in 2006. There have been 3 recalls but I don't know if they were taken in for upgrades.

It has the Ford 355 HP engine and a six speed tranny and is on a 22K chassis.

Any info would be appreciated.

  • The 2006 3180 Coachman Epic is a class A, I think the OP meant his intent was to buy a C, but found this A.
I suspect he's looking for anyone with experience in a Coachman A of the 2006 era.
The shared pieces are the Ford V10 22K chassis, and most of the internal appliance are also shared. As for the Ford, I can not speak as I have a Workhorse.

Buying any used unit, I'd look for Service History and other records, Yu can check for recall service with the VIN, also contact Coachman, they might have the original sticker, which would provide the selling dealership, both Tiffin and Newmar did this for me when I was buying with providing the VIN. You can then contact the selling dealer to see if they have any history, most are willing to accommodate the history, just not the original owner.

Hope this clears things up for any other posters.

Not sure of the model, but here is
    one.
  • My big concern about long Class C rigs is the amount of tail overhang. A few weeks back, while at our local Costco gas station, a long Class C turned out from the pump island and damaged most of 5' of the rear body on the island support pillar.

A neighbor who bought one said they had to drain the water and waste tanks every time before taking to the street because of the tail-heaviness. They sold it after less than a year.
