Best Roof Mount TV Antenna for Class-C> Not Satellite

I want to install a inexpensive roof mount antenna on my Class-C MH . I have been doing a lot of reading about the Winegard with a booster they call Winegard III . Is this about the best bang for the buck over $100 but less than $200 . Any opinions will be appreciated y'all !!!!!!!!!!!

    I'm of the 'other' group.

To me saying the XYZ antenna is better than a Jack is sort of like 'my car goes 0 to 60 mph 1.4 seconds faster'. So what, I'm not into drag racing.

The advantages of having an 'always ready' antenna far exceed getting an extra station.

Besides, I get full normal reception going down the interstate at 65 mph and don't have to worry about putting it up taking down.

Agreed! That Frisbee-Lookalike "Omni" is OK in strong signal areas. And rental companies like them because there's nothing to leave up.

The new (few years ago) "Jack" from King (satellite domes) is supposed to be good, but most tests and user experience confirm Winegard works best in fringe areas. The trade-off is that better performance means the antenna needs to be aimed more precisely.

We have an older Winegard that I added WingMan to. Happens we didn't have a clearance problem so all is good with that. JUST DON'T WORRY that the latest Winegard doesn't look like it has WingMan. It does not need to since Winegard built hat UHF capability right into it.

  • Most will say the Winegard, but I have had a lot of luck with the Rayzar air. I had a clearance problem, just be sure to check yours.

I installed a Rayzar Air several months ago.
When I bought my RV it had a Batwing that was not working, I cleaned up all connections and tested to see if it was broken, it was,so I replaced it with a new bat wing then ran a Channel Scan I was not impressed with the amount of channels that I got. This was done in my driveway here in the south bay of So Calif using my SensarPro.

I then went out and got a Wingman add on like the one pictured above, that put my channel scan up to 47,but I had a clearance problem with the Wingman

So I opted to put a Jack on and my channel scan went up to 60

I then went with the Rayzar as you can see it fits in the same space.
I opted not to put it on the supplied 13 In. arm. I kept one arm of the Winegard mast and mounted it that way, there are instructions in the kit,it is very easy to do. This way I had it in the same space and got the maximum height when deployed.

The Bi-Directional feature is great and easier to use than the Jack and I get several more stations.

I get great HIGH DEF HDTV reception pointing this antenna to the local towns that have the National Broadcast digital TV broadcast stations.

Used to bring along the Home SAT TV RCVRs and portable Dish setup but after the National Broadcast went to the digital format I stopped bringing along the SAT TV items...

We get our HDTV fill just fine just about everywhere we go here on the east side of the US.

X2...we switched out an omni directional antenna for same thing. Unreal difference in reception. Works great for us.

  • We had an omni directional piece of junk, only got 2 channels here at home. We switched it out and now we get 12 channels with camper in yard. We put a winegard sensor 3 or 4, can't remember but works like a champ. I wanted the batwing after things on reading rv.net.
