Best source for RV reviews?

What have you found to be the best source for unbiased reviews or particular motorhome brands or models? I have found with some magazines of other products (motorcycles, cars, guns) they seem to think everything is great. So what magazine/web site/blog would I find a good honest source for reviews.
  • This forum is a great place BUT many will tell you that you should buy what they have and do not have any point of reference for other brands. Most manufacturers have simular building practices and use the same components. There is a difference between "entry level" any "high end" just as there is a difference between Toyota and Lexus. All modern gas units are built on the same chassis but there is a choice when you get into a diesel unit.
Motor homes are hand built in a rolling factory. Two of the same make and models can leave the factory with slight differences in fit and finishe. One could have a list of needed repairs and the other may never come back for repairs.
The true differences in manufacturers and dealers is the service after the sale.

Their products do cost........ about $78.... but we felt it was well worth the money.

I agree, that being said, their book on how to inspect RVs is a great source to learn how to look for what is important to you is maybe even better.

  • Manufacturers only work with groups that give good reviews. You have to read between the lines. Everything is rated good, better, or best but they never make it that clear.

Buyers are notoriously unreliable. They are bad judges - both to easy and to critical and have little experience in lots of cases.

Consumer reports avoids working with manufacturers by simply buying the items, but even there reports have a lot of bias.

I have read about an independent review organization, but I have not yet bought their publication. I will when I get serious about getting a replacement rig. Hope it is worth the money.

Most of the ones I have read in places like MH magazine seem to be slanted to more of a sales pitch for camping world. I would love to see real objective reviews. This site would be a great place to house it. One page dedicated to ratings, likes dislikes price paid etc. Wouldn't be too hard to do. But again, the site is controlled with a vested interest in selling MH's so I am not sure if it would fly.
