In about a week I'm going the same way with a 28'Class C Chevy Too.
This is how I'm going to do it.
Get off 101 just before San Jose and on to 85 and take that to I-280. Stay on I-280 to the exit for route 1, 19th ave.Try to stay in the center lane and follow the signs thru SF Park to the bridge.
There no tolls or restrictions that way I have been told not to go thru in the morning rush hours so I plan to be there mid day.
If you can Google map it you can see the whole thing.
I also plan to stop at the north end view area. I did a Google earth on it and you can do a virtual drive thru the whole thing.
Good luck
I've taken that route several times in a 24' Class C with a toad. It's not bad at all. I've taken detours off 19th Ave into the neighborhoods to pick up passengers, also. The route IAMICHABOD lists is a nice low speed trek and, for me, preferable to high-speed freeways.
