RED LIGHT CAMERA'S
Yes, they do NOT stop red light running. They catch BOTH Red light runners and they catch the Right Turn on RED. But the right turn on RED is not a feasible function. In Texas, there is a 12 inch wide white painted line at the intersection. IF you STOP on or past that white line and then proceed right on RED, the Camera goes off and you get a ticket. I have never been ticketed by a red light Camera. My wife was, and when she protested her innocence, we downloaded the Video and she admitted she ran the red light. MY PROBLEM with red light Camera's is this.
1. IF you get a ticket, there is no avenue to get the 0fficer in court to cross examine. The Video shows the vehicle, NOT WHO IS DRIVING
2. The Ticket goes to the Vehicle, NOT the offending driver. Why should the State make me or the owner of the vehicle give up who was driving. Besides we have a 5th amendment right to keep quiet. If an officer pulls the vehicle over, the DRIVER gets the ticket. GOOD. Thankfully in Texas, it looks like Red Light Camera's will be gone by the end of the year due to new laws outlawing them. Doug
