Based on a MOST RECENT news report, here in Lake Havasu City AZ, the news channel Fox 10, states that:
The program for the fake Saguaro cactus cameras was funded by a VERY WEALTHY PERSON (singular). And, that particular person, was/is the founder of Discount Tire. Apparently he, and his wife, had their home invaded by robbers and, were held at gun point, while the robbers proceeded through their home, taking what they wanted.
Now, the story goes on about this person, who seems to want to provide capability for PD to more efficiently track potential bad guys by viewing and photographing licience plates. And, the local PD was also interviewed and stated that:
There would be no private information gathered. The information on the plates however, would he stored for approximately 6 months, and them discarded. Good report Scott! In fact it makes me happy because the last set of Michelin tires I bought from Lakeview Tire on Industrial St. in Lake Havasu!
So, that's the latest on that story, according to local news channels. Now, just how HONEST this report is, and, based on what PD has to offer on the subject, who knows? But, that's what was recently reported, as of about 08:00 AZ time.
