Birds nesting in awning

I have birds that keep making nests in my slide out awning covers. I pull the stuff out and the next day there back again. Does anyone have any tricks that would prevent birds from nesting in my awning covers. Any input is appreciated.
  • We have Doves that are persistent, to say the least. CD and fake Owl seemed to attract them.

The only thing that worked for me was a clamp-on bird/dove decoy.

It looks like a Dove and any place they start to build a nest I put the fake Dove there and they leave immediately.
  • I think the BB gun will leave a mark if I miss. I went up on a ladder and pulled the nest out. Hopefully they don't build another one before Friday

You might have to rig up something to hang it from. It has florescent colors on it when light hits its and the motion adds a deterrent also.

You can also try aluminum foil with some sticky tape on the back and place it where needed.
Forget the aluminum foil, just use the sticky tape - or double face tape. I had a problem with a bird that would peck at his chrome reflection on my window every morning. I finally put tape down on the window sill. I assume he had to fight to get free and never came back.
  • Another trick boaters use is to string a line from one point to another that blocks the flyway or similarly a line with tassle-like things hanging down.
  • Block both ends of the awnings when they are rolled up and you should be fine...

  • for boaters they use an owl decoy. may work for you also. they are cheap and you can put it over the awning
