Blowing out water lines

I am hesitant about just blowing out my water lines to winterize. How does that affect the water pump when it has a backflow valve? I am afraid the water pump won't be winterized. I had an RV salesman mention this to me once.

Get an adapter that screws into your city water hook-up. It will blow out water in the pump too. Then just add a bit of the pink stuff in the p traps and let the pump suck up some too. Then you'll be good to go.

:? How will it blow out the pump. No water goes to the pump from the city water connection. How could air?

OP your gonna need to get some antifreeze thru the pump.
  • I have an adapter that hooks the city water connection straight to the compressor I blow out the system then with a gallon of pink anti-freeze I pump about 1 cup through the pump, then I take a red solo cup and dump 1 cup in each of the drains and in the bottom of the toilet, I have done this for several years and not had any problems.
