I am enjoying nature while sitting under my awning when I hear somebody pulling out the campground tooting his air horn. Thanks for startling everyone:( What is up with that? Didn't he get enough attention as as a kid?You know the type. Why do they think that we'd appreciate the disruption?

Hey, I toot my horn when I leave home for work, and my Grandson is outside waving to me!:BBut, then again, that is in a residential neighborhood, not at a campground....and it's about 3:00PM in the afternoon, so I'm not waking anyone up either.....and finally, it's not an airhorn!!I guess we know why there is that saying "Toot your own horn!":B

Maybe a goodbye salute to some nice people that met at the CG....which evidently doesn't include you at all.To me?...If the bad part of my day is having someone blow their air horn at me....Im home free.Why not complain about something worth complaining about??

Maybe, just maybe he was saying goodbye to some camping friends/familyMaybe, just maybe he was tooting cause the little kid standing there was giving the 'toot your horn' gestureMaybe, just maybe he was giving a 'thank-you' to someone that helped himMaybe, just maybe it didn't have anything to do with you

I will take a wild guess. It is a carry over to days gone by. When I as 10 or 11 years old,(1954/1955) people used to "stop by for visit". And when they departed from your home they tooted their horns very, very briefly, and waved goodbyes.It was a common practice at the time. And I have no idea how it started.But I just think it is mostly a lingering tradition from the olden days.
