Most extended warranty contracts have a huge list of non-covered items. This is what their inspector will look for. If a non-covered item failed, and caused the problem, they will not pay for the repairs.
It may be something as simple as a couple of burned exhaust valves. Tho not a cheap repair, it is much better than a blown engine, which usually means a complete rebuild.
The first thing they are going to ask for is ALL of your maintenance records. You will have to prove that you were using the correct oil and that it was changed on the correct schedule.
