Blue Ox Kargard

Looking at purchasing a Blue Ox Kargard BX88255 to protect our tow car. Anyone else have one of these and do you like it? Thanks.
  • I looked in to one - but the collapsible arms on the front use the bumper to fold them back in turns. on mine, they would rub against the painted bumper. I know they are soft, but that is out of the box. Within minutes my bumper is dusty and that would scratch.
  • I have used one since 2005 & apx 100k miles. I notched mine (per install instructions) to go around the tow bar arms and hang lower in front of the toad. That part works great. I did find that it was deflecting stones into the rear of the coach on occasion. I used a pipe bender to bend the towers so the shield is slanted forward apx 12 degrees. My theory was that would deflect stones back toward the road, and it seems to work. I also made a bracket to hang it on the coach drawbar when not in use. Another option is to slide it under the coach. I did not have the inside storage space to give up, and found folding it up and unfolding it was a hassle I didn't want
  • I have used a Karguard since December in towing a Ford Focus. The Karguard is very easy to use. However, it rides above the hitch points, so the front of the car below the car's hitch points is not protected from debris coming off the motorhome. I have added behind the rear wheel mud flaps to hopefully cut down on debris reaching the car.
