Blue Ox TruCenter Installation Assistance Needed

I have a 2004 coach on a Freightliner chassis and have purchased the TruCenter steering stabilizer. If anyone has installed one of these, I have some questions.

It says to connect it to a keyed 12 volt power source. How do I know which power sources in the front of the coach are keyed sources?

The wires that go to my dash go through a bunch of foam. Are there any ideas of how I will route the switch to the front dash?
  • Find or run a wire. put volt meter on said wire and check for voltage. If volts then not keyed if key is in off position. Next turn on key and check voltage, should have 12+ volts, turn off key , no voltage.
  • Nancy.....It needs to be connected to a "keyed" 12 volt source so that every time you turn the coach off and restart, the unit goes back to the original "center" setting. If you can find a fuse box on your coach, you can check the fuses....need a volt meter or test light and see which ones have "NO" power when the key is off. Once you find one, turn the key on and see if it has power. You can then tap into that fuse. Some fuse blocks have blanks where you can add an additional fuse for future equipment.

It's easy to run a wire through the foam. Get a wire coat hangar and straighten it out. Make a small loop on one end and attach the wire you want to run through the foam. Take the other end of the coat hangar and force it through the foam until it comes out the other side. Pull it the rest of the way and you'll have your wire on the end.

To find a keyed source use a test lamp.

Open the Battery Control Center or the Main Chassis fuse box and start probing connectors.. Map the ones that light.

now turn on the ignition,, Re-probe the ones that DID NOT light the first time

    Pick one that now lights.

Very easy to do. Very simple tool.
