I know! I'm so happy. I just keep thanking God for helping me, cause it was just grasping at straws and troubleshooting. Trying to understand why it used to be okay, and then "this" happened. Then "this" happened. Just putting it all together in a logical way that would lead to an answer.

OMG!! PTL, I fixed it!

I went under the bed (pulled the mattress and plywood off again) and took the "3 screws" off (was 8) to access the diaphragm to examine for debris. Found none but it felt a little slimy so I wiped it all down with a paper towel, carefully.

Put that back on and then checked the water flow from the fresh water tank. There was almost none! I blew into the hose and bubbles went into the tank, but still almost nothing came back when I left the valve open and placed it down on a towel.

You all said that if there was a leak anywhere in the system, it could cause problems. Well, the little outdoor stopcock thing had been leaking and I had bought a new one and some sealant to replace it. I decided today was the day, since my Class C was a wreck inside anyway.

I took off the old stopcock and grabbed the hose (there wasn't much of it and I was afraid it would get sucked back through the hole) with an adjustable wrench, then had to twist and turn the old stopcock to get it out of the hose. I discovered that it broke off in the hose partway, so I figured I'd have to cut the hose but the broken piece came out later on when I adjusted the wrench.

I scraped all the old caulk away from the wall of the RV and when it FINALLY finished draining, I applied the new sealant and screwed the two fasteners into place. Then I applied more sealant all around the outside rim.

Gave it 30 minutes or so before refilling the tank through the gravity drain thing (above the stopcock) and I shut it off before the tank was all the way full cause I didn't want any backflow or possible leakage into the RV.

OMG!!!! The pressure is just what I thought it would be with a new water pump. I can't believe it and I know that it was my effort along with God's Grace and prayer for help. I saved myself from ruining the brand new water pump by investigating and ruling things out.

I'm so happy. AND TIRED! Thank you for all of your suggestions and help. I never would have thought a leak from essentially the bottom of the fresh water tank would affect the water pump. Go figure!

Brand new motorhomes can have problems, hopefully fixed by dealer under warranty. Old motorhomes can have a lot of problems some caused by improper DIY repairs or simply age, use or disuse. Appliances, air conditioning, furnace, water heater and fresh water pump rely on good full charged 12 volt batteries and converter charger as well as good electrical connections/fuses/circuit breakers to operate electronic controls even when plugged into "shore power" . Plumbing systems deteriorate from hard water deposits and corrosion. Air conditioners, fridges, water pumps, converter chargers and batteries may need replacement after 10 years or more depending on use and maintenance. The more you learn about the trouble shooting and maintenance and repair things you can do vs having done by pros, the better. There are a lot of good RV DIY videos on You Tube and some good books on care and feeding of RV's sold at RV parts stores.

Okay. Thank you all. You're right. I am worn out! I am hooked to electricity so I'm not running off the house battery. I will keep investigating. I know the new pump was new cause I got the box it came in and saw it being taken out of the box.

It was put together (electrically) very well. It had originally had house type electrical caps on the ends but he applied these things that shrink up to a completely water-tight seal when heated.

Thanks for looking things up for me in that manual. I will keep looking for the problem and until I find the solution, I won't be running the water pump at all. I can't afford another one. Didn't really have the money for this one, either.

I looked back over the Livingston book and back through this thread. Did we discuss electric power to/at the pump? Livingston did. If a connection's coming apart, loose wire, somebody replaced wire with too small a size, then the pump can't develop the power (pressure and flow) that it should.

I know your worn out with guessing. But if I had to guess, there is a restriction or an air leak in the supply side of the pump. Hose, fitting, check valve.

There should be hot and cold water "low point drain valves" somewhere. Mine are located behind an inspection cover in the outer wall of the bathroom. Make sure these are both closed completely or the fresh water system will not pressurize and pump won't pump properly and won't shut off, might pulse on and off. There may be a clear plastic filter in the water line between water tank and pump. The filter has a fine screen inside to stop sediment from entering the pump. The filter may come apart to clean the screen. Make sure all faucets are closed including the outside shower if you have one.

The water lines going from the pump to the toilet, sinks and water heater must not have any leaks and all faucets must shut off completely. As elderly as your rig is, the faucets and toilet valves may be defective/worn out. Make sure the 12 volt DC electrical connections to the pump are making good contact and supplying enough current to the pump. Your mechanic could have been sold a used/defective pump. Is your house battery fully charged. It should read about 13 volts while pump is running, test with a digital multimeter set on 20 volts DC range.

Welcome to the joys of owning an old motorhome. Try to learn as much as you can about the electrical system and how to test and maintain batteries. Expect to spend money getting and keeping everything operating properly
