Broken Thetford toilet - replace part or entire toilet?

We have a standard Thetford toilet in our nexus 28p. The ball valve flap does not open or close when the foot pedal is depressed. It is not stuck in any way. It is out of warranty. My question is ...

We used a broken valve as an excuse to replace ours with a porcelain one - Dometic 321, we are very happy with the swap out :) Here's a post from our blog about it: New Toilet
