Bunkhouse Class A

No matter which you choose, the purpose of booster seats is to make sure a shoulder & seat belt combo fits a small child properly, without injuring them in an accident. Booster seats should NEVER be used with just a lap belt, no matter the size of the child. And for safety reasons, young children should never sit in the front seat until close to the size of a smaller adult. Click here for booster seat info.

One of the things I didn't like about our FW bunkhouse was the motion. Because the master bedroom is in front of the supports and axles, and the bunkhouse was behind, there was a lot of motion from the family of six inside. I could feel all of us when we rolled over. This is not an issue with a MH. We also drive a lot with our camper and yet we were never in it. We were in the truck all the time and only in the FW at night, or in the campgrounds. With the MH, we are in it all the time! On the road and in the CG. It is awesome.....

I had a bunkhouse trailer several years ago and it worked great for my boys. Now they are married they dont go with us so that unit got traded for a motorhome.

Take a look at the new Winnebago Forza 38R. It has a bunk that can be converted to a closet, and has an option for an additional drop down bed over the 'cab'. Have not seen one 'in the flesh', just read the literature when I bought my Forza 34T.

Personally, I really like having bunks, really hate having to make / take down the sofa and dinette every night / morning and love being able to use the front of the mh while the kids are asleep so I'd be very hesitant to get a non-bunkhouse mh but there are definitely some compromises and there are a lot of different floor plans (you can get bunkhouses under 32' to over 42') so you can't really make a blanket statement about closet space and seating arrangement.

As far as the booster, with a lap belt only, it doesn't make any difference but our oldest (8) still uses his because he likes it (usually at the dinette with lap belt). Our youngest (3) is still in his child seat in the corner of the J-sofa. If we're in motion, the belts are on (in the very rare occasion, we might let the oldest go to the bathroom while we're on the road but that's quite rare and really only if there's no suitable place to stop).

We have a 40' DP bunkhouse. Works great for us and our 2 kids that are now 13 & 10.
They each have a large drawer under the lower bunk for clothes and share our wardrobe closet for coats and such. They usually sit on the couch which has lap belts or in the dinette which also has belts. When we stay up later than them watching tv we just close the first door between the hallway and bunk area. I built an extra cabinet in each bunk for them to store their stuff. I would never go back to anything other than a class A. Sure beats having them cramped up in the backseat of a pickup.

We are on our second Bunkhouse. Started with a Sunstar 32K and move up to a Sunove 35J. We are 3, DW, DD and myself. I also use out MH to travel with up to 3 adult male friends to matches. I would not at this point buy a non-BH model. We have one large drawer under the bunks. Also use duffel bags. Bunks could be longer, at 6-2 I don't fit.

Our reason to buy a BH was to allow DD and a friend to go to bed early and/or us to get up early and not have the table and sofa used as beds.

You won't let the kids in the passenger seat but you don't use booster, and only use the belts for the most part, and let the kids travel on the bunks? You know, boostered in the passenger seat would be the safest option of all that. Unless your kids are in the 99th %ile, they really still should be boostered. The laws of physics don't change.

Have a 2012 Winnebago Vista 32K is a 33' bunkhouse. We love it and would not consider anything other then a bunk model at this point. We family camp with our 2 boys and its perfect that there is no converting sofas, couches, or makinf loft beds every night. I love how thay have thier own place and when thier bunks get messy, I clean them up by closing the curtain!
