- robinbreakExplorerI'm actually finding that if I give up the luxury items (luxury bed, top-of-the-shelf kitchen and counter, leather sofas etc) and stick with stuff that is comfortable and useful but not to the excess, I can spend around $150k and get what I want.
Then I might have to add some for better insulation and better heating/water system...
But still, buying a used coach, with all the stuff I really need and none of the useless perks might get me in the 200k$ rather than 300k$ - robinbreakExplorerHi PastorCharlie,
do you have any slides on your rig?
I can find something suitable but they always have slides... It's not easy to find one without...
Regarding the dumping tank, I will be at a construction site, thus they will have a connection to the sewer. But if it's not easy to access, or in a bad place, I can't park my rig next to it... That might become a problem...
I will use toilets on site, but shower and such I'll have to do on the motorhome...
Thanks - PastorCharlieExplorerMy Newmar is very comfortable in winter, it has excellent insulation and dual pane windows.
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
Unless you can find a year round place to dump the waste tanks you are beat before you begin.
How cold does it get where you will be?robinbreak wrote:
if I get a call to go somewhere for the whole winter, I have to be sure I can live well enough in the motorhome for the whole time.
Winter times are tough for everyone, I just want to make sure that I won't spend my time taking care of the motorhome instead of actually working :-) - VinCeeExplorerBuy a Prius and rent an apartment at each work site. Warm and toasty, LOL!
- tderonneExplorerMost large manufacturers will build to your specs.
Winnebago's Commercial Shells
There's others too. Talking to them may get you headed in the right direction. - robinbreakExplorerSince I'm in construction, winter times are usually slow.
But if a call comes during those times, I have to move the rig.
Renting a warehouse is a good idea, but if I get a call to go somewhere for the whole winter, I have to be sure I can live well enough in the motorhome for the whole time.

Welcome to the forums.
There is a great thread on winter camping in the Full Time Forum.
I have modified my class C to allow it to be used at -40.
So far as I am aware no one makes a "winter proof" RV.
You will want to avoid any unit that has slide outs. - ScottGNomadYour not going to enjoy spending a winter in there. The biggest problem will be condensation.
- bsinmichExplorerNewmar lists the R factors of their motorhomes on their website. You can get copies of booklets from previous years on the site. The newer you go the better the insulation. I would still look for Aqua Hot of a similar system of heating the coach.
